History

Sixty years by the lake

1962

The sanatorium opens

The Issyk-Kul sanatorium is built on the northern shore. The first buildings are light and summery: people come for the season, for the sun and mountain air.

1966

The name Kazakhstan

The Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR renames the sanatorium Kazakhstan. It has carried this name for sixty years.

1970s

Kunaev's dacha

Dinmukhamed Kunaev rests here. His dacha has survived on the grounds — today it is the D.A. Kunaev house museum, and Kunaev Alley has lived since the sanatorium's first years, for more than 60 years.

2026

The new complex

Full reconstruction: main building, cottages, medical block, sports complex, pools and sports grounds.

Opening

The Kazakhstan Sanatorium welcomes its first guests. Five stars, all year round.
