History

Sixty years by the lake

1962

The sanatorium opens

The Issyk-Kul sanatorium is built on the northern shore of the lake. The first buildings are light and summery: people come for the season, for the sun and mountain air.

1966

The name Kazakhstan

The Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR renames the sanatorium Kazakhstan. It has carried this name for sixty years.

1970s

Kunaev's dacha

Dinmukhamed Kunaev holidays here. His dacha has been preserved on the grounds and will become a house museum.

2026

The new resort

Full reconstruction: on 17.5 hectares — the main building, cottages, medical block, sports complex and pools.
