From Bishkek

- By car via the Bishkek — Balykchy — Cholpon-Ata road, ~260 km
- Transfer from Manas Airport — ~4 h
- Minibuses and taxis from the Western bus station
From Almaty
6–8 h
- By car via Kordai and Bishkek — all year, ~500 km
- Via Kegen — Karkara in summer, 5–7 h
- Flight to Tamchy Airport — 1 h, then a 40-minute transfer
From Astana
2 h + 4 h
- Flight to Bishkek, then transfer
- In summer — a direct flight to Tamchy
